It's Time to Clean Out your Closet!

It's Time to Clean Out your Closet!

Closet Refresh

The new year brings with it a sense of renewal and the perfect opportunity to declutter and refresh various aspects of our lives. One area often overlooked but highly deserving of attention is our closets. Do you feel like your closet is practically exploding with things, but you have nothing to wear? This blog post is for you. Here is a step-by-step guide to cleaning out your closet the CHA way!

Step 1: Take Everything Out

Start by emptying your entire closet. Yes, everything. Lay it all out where you can see it. This not only allows you to assess the extent of your wardrobe but also provides a blank canvas for the process ahead.

Step 2: Evaluate Each Item

As you go through each item, ask yourself some questions:

Have I worn this in the past year?

Does it fit well and make me feel confident?

If an item doesn't meet these criteria, it is time to consign or donate it!

Step 3: Categorize and Organize

Divide your clothing into categories such as tops, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear. Within each category, organize further by color or style. This step not only makes picking out an outfit everyday easy, but also helps you find any gaps in your wardrobe!

Step 4: Seasonal Switch

Take advantage of the change in seasons to rotate your wardrobe. Pack away off-season items in storage bins or vacuum-sealed bags to make room for clothes appropriate for the weather. We recommend airtight bags to keep bugs and dust away from your pieces.

Step 5: Consign or Donate

At the end of this process, you are more than likely to have a lot of clothes you need to get rid of. According to Earth.Org “92 million tonnes of textiles waste is produced every year. Of the 100 billion garments produced each year, 92 million tonnes end up in landfills.” To avoid contributing to the 92 million tons of clothing wasted, donate or consign your items to give them a second life. Consigning your gently worn pieces not only frees up more closet space and keeps fashion sustainable, but also leads us into step 6!

Step 6: Invest in Wardrobe Stables

Now that you have a consignor balance here at Clotheshorse Anonymous from selling your clothing, shoes, or accessories, you can invest in wardrobe staples to fill the gaps in your closet! Click here for our Wardrobe Essentials Collection and shop designers such as The Row, Brunello Cucinelli, Veronica Beard, CHANEL, and more!

By dedicating some time and effort to decluttering and refreshing your closet, you're not just creating an aesthetically pleasing space; you're also fostering a sense of mindfulness and intentionality in your approach to clothing. A refreshed closet can inspire confidence, simplify your daily routine, and set a positive tone for the new year. Embrace the process, and your wardrobe will thank you!
