What is a buyout?
A buyout means Clotheshorse Anonymous purchases your item outright. You receive a fixed offer, and once accepted and paid, the item becomes property of CHA.
What items qualify for buyout?
We currently offer buyouts for:
- Luxury designer handbags
- Luxury designer wallets and small leather goods
- Fine and luxury designer jewelry
All other items are accepted on a consignment-only basis.
How do I submit items for buyout?
You can submit items online via our online submissions form by providing:
- Clear photos
- Brand and style details
- Condition information
Our team will review your submission and determine if it qualifies for a buyout offer.
Can I bring my items in for buyout locally?
At this time, we do not accept in-person buyout submissions. All submissions must be completed online through our submission form.
To submit your items for review, please complete the online submission form in full, including:
- Clear photos of each item
- Detailed item descriptions
- Any additional information requested in the form
Only submissions completed through the online form will be considered for review.
After your items are reviewed:
- Buyout offers will be sent via email
- Offers are typically provided within 1–2 business days
- You may accept or decline the offer once received
- If your offer is accepted, our team will coordinate a scheduled date and time for item drop-off or send a shipping label for mailed submissions
If you choose not to accept the offer, no further action is required.
Will I always receive an offer?
No. Not all items qualify for buyout.
We evaluate each submission based on:
- Brand and desirability
- Condition
- Current market demand
- Resale value
If your item is not a fit, it may be declined or recommended for consignment.
How long does it take to receive an offer?
Most submissions are reviewed within a few business days, though timing may vary depending on volume.
How long is my offer valid?
Buyout offers are typically valid for 7 days.
What happens after I accept an offer?
Once you accept:
- You will receive shipping instructions
- You send your item to us
- We inspect and authenticate the item
- Payment is issued after approval
Do you provide a shipping label?
In many cases, yes. CHA may provide a prepaid shipping label at its discretion.
What happens if my item is different than described?
If the condition, authenticity, or details differ from your submission:
- A revised offer may be issued, or
- The item may be declined
You can choose to accept or reject a revised offer.
What if I decline a revised offer?
Your item will be returned to you. Return shipping fees may apply.
How and when do I get paid?
Once your item is approved, you can receive payment via:
- Consignor Balance for in-store use or a consignment check on the 1st of the month
- Check in-person (valid ID required)
- Check by mail: may take up to 10–14 business days
- PayPal (1-2 business days after processing)
Check & PayPal payments may include a small processing fee.
When does ownership transfer?
Ownership transfers to Clotheshorse Anonymous once payment is issued. All buyout transactions are final.
What if my item is not authentic?
Items must be authentic.
If an item is found to be counterfeit:
- The offer will be canceled
- The item may be returned at your expense
- Additional fees may apply
- Future submissions may be declined
Clotheshorse Anonymous reserves the right to pursue legal action where permitted by law in cases involving counterfeit or misrepresented items.
Can I get my item back after accepting a buyout?
No. Once payment is issued, the transaction is final and the item belongs to CHA.
Is buyout or consignment better?
It depends on your goals:
- Buyout: faster, guaranteed payment
- Consignment: potentially higher payout, but takes time
If your item doesn’t qualify for buyout, we may recommend consignment.
