What is consignment?
Consignment means we sell your items on your behalf. Once your item sells, you receive a percentage of the final sale price based on our tiered commission structure.
What items do you accept?
We accept select women’s designer and contemporary:
- Clothing (preferred 2 years old or newer)
- Handbags
- Shoes
- Jewelry
- Accessories
Items must be clean, current, and in excellent condition.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome during the weekdays. Appointments are required on Saturdays from 11 AM – 3 PM and can be scheduled through our website.
We also offer:
- Quick Drop (drop and go)
- Front porch pickup (for qualifying accounts)
- Courier service (fees may apply)
What condition do items need to be in?
Items must be:
- Clean and wrinkle-free
- On hangers (for clothing)
- Free of stains, odors, damage, and pet hair
Items that are unsellable, including those with stains, moth holes, tears, or other damage, will be automatically donated without notice.
Do you authenticate items?
Yes. We use a third-party authentication service to verify designer handbags and select luxury items.
Authentication services are only provided for items being submitted for consignment or buyout with Clotheshorse Anonymous. We do not offer authentication as a standalone service for outside parties.
What is Quick Drop?
Quick Drop allows you to leave items without waiting.
- Items not accepted will be donated automatically without notice
- This option is best for clients who prefer convenience over item review
Are there any preparation or cleaning fees?
Yes. To prepare items for the sales floor:
- A $3 per item fee applies if any cleaning (steaming, lint rolling, etc.) is required
- Additional fees may apply for dry cleaning, repairs, or polishing
These fees are deducted from your consignment balance.
How are items priced?
Our team determines pricing based on:
- Brand
- Condition
- Market demand
- Current resale trends
We price items to sell while maximizing your return.
Do prices change over time?
Yes.
- Items are discounted 25% after 30 days
- Items are discounted 50% after 60 days
- Additional promotions or flash sales may occur
How long is the consignment period?
The consignment contract lasts 90 days from the processing date.
Can I get my items back early?
Yes, but:
- Early termination within the first 30 days incurs a $5 per item fee
What happens if my items don’t sell?
You are responsible for picking up unsold items before your contract expires.
Items not picked up:
- May be donated, or
- Become property of CHA for final disposition
How much do I earn?
Your payout is based on a tiered structure:
- $5,000+ → 80%
- $500+ → 70%
- $250+ → 60%
- $100+ → 50%
- $26–$99 → 45%
- $25 & under → 25%
When do I get paid?
We offer three ways to get paid:
- Direct deposit
- Store credit
- Check by mail
Payouts are issued on the 1st of each month:
- Direct deposit for balances over $50
- Store credit for smaller balances (under $10 at contract end)
- Checks available with a processing fee
Can I track my items?
Yes. You can monitor your items, pricing, and sales through your Consignor Access portal.
Do you sell items online?
Yes. Select items may be listed online to increase visibility.
- A 5% processing fee applies to online sales
Do items need to be authentic?
Yes. All items must be authentic.
If an item is determined to be counterfeit:
- A $100 processing fee per item will apply
- The item will be removed from circulation if not retrieved by our set date
- Future submissions may be declined
- Clotheshorse Anonymous reserves the right to pursue legal action where permitted by law
Is CHA responsible for lost or damaged items?
No. CHA is not responsible for:
- Lost
- Stolen
- Damaged items
during the consignment period.
Is consignment or buyout better?
- Consignment: higher potential payout, but takes time
- Buyout: faster payout, limited to handbags, wallets, and jewelry
