Today is Yves Saint Laurents birthday, so is there a better day to discuss the difference between YSL and Saint Laurent Paris? Let's dive in.
The YSL logo was designed in 1963 by the graphic designer A.M. Cassandre, and the brand remained Yves Saint Laurent (YSL for short) until 2012. In 2012 Hedi Slimane became the new creative director and decided it was time for some rebranding! Slimane removed the ‘Yves’ from the brand name, and created a logo with the new name, Saint Laurent Paris.

Although this caused some controversy, the brand is now "Saint Laurent Paris" but kept the acronym, "YSL" for branding and to pay homage to the history of the fashion house. So is there really a difference between these two? No, there is not.
Here's to one of our favorite designers! Happy Birthday, Yves Saint Laurent.
