Winter Consignment Call: The Coats, Cashmere, and Knits We’re Looking for Now

Winter Consignment Call: The Coats, Cashmere, and Knits We’re Looking for Now

Your closet may have exactly what we’re looking for.

As the seasons change, it is a good time to take a closer look at the pieces already hanging in your closet. That beautiful cashmere sweater you reach for every year, the tailored coat you bought for its timeless silhouette, or the suede jacket that makes even a simple outfit feel finished could be exactly what another fashion lover is hoping to find.

At Clotheshorse Anonymous, we are preparing for the winter selling season and looking for a curated selection of luxury and designer contemporary clothing. Our focus is on exceptional fabrics, recognizable designers, and current styles that make sense for the Dallas market.

If you have been thinking about refreshing your wardrobe, now is a good time to consider consigning some of your favorite pieces.

Cashmere Is Always Worth a Closer Look

Few fabrics feel as appropriate for winter as cashmere. It is soft, versatile, and easy to wear in different ways, making it one of the most useful additions to a seasonal wardrobe.

We are especially interested in cashmere sweaters, cardigans, sweater jackets, and lightweight layers from designers known for their quality and craftsmanship.

Brands such as Loro Piana, Brunello Cucinelli, The Row, Khaite, and Hermès are high priorities for our winter selection. We are also looking for elevated knitwear from Chanel, Toteme, Ralph Lauren Collection, and La Ligne.

The details matter. Beautiful fabrication, thoughtful construction, a flattering silhouette, and a current style can make a simple sweater stand out. A classic crewneck, a relaxed cardigan, or an oversized knit in a versatile neutral can become a wardrobe staple for years.

We are looking for pieces that feel special, not simply another sweater to add to the rack.

Coats and Jackets That Earn Their Place

A good coat can change the way an entire outfit looks. Whether it is a beautifully tailored wool coat or a casual jacket thrown over denim, outerwear is one of the most useful categories to consider when refreshing a winter wardrobe.

For this season, we are particularly interested in camel coats, wool and cashmere outerwear, scarf jackets, leather jackets, suede, shearling, and lightweight puffers.

Some of our highest-priority luxury brands include:

  • Max Mara: Iconic camel coats and refined wool outerwear.

  • The Row: Minimalist coats and understated, oversized silhouettes.

  • Moncler: Down jackets, lightweight puffers, and vests.

  • Khaite: Modern coats, shearling, and elevated jackets.

  • Burberry: Classic trenches, wool coats, and select puffers.

  • Toteme: Scarf jackets, contemporary coats, and knitwear.

  • Loewe and Celine: Statement outerwear, leather, and shearling.

  • Canada Goose: Quality parkas, down coats, and vests.

We are also interested in designer contemporary outerwear from Veronica Beard, Ulla Johnson, Isabel Marant, Nili Lotan, Anine Bing, and Smythe.

Dallas weather calls for a slightly different approach to winter dressing. While heavy coats have their place, lightweight layers, sweater jackets, vests, and versatile outerwear can often be worn across a longer part of the season. These are the pieces that transition easily from a cool morning to an afternoon out and can be styled in more than one way.

Designer Contemporary Pieces Are Welcome, Too

Luxury labels are an important part of our winter assortment, but there are plenty of contemporary designers whose pieces deserve a place in a well-curated wardrobe.

We are looking for recognizable sweaters, cardigans, jackets, and coats from brands such as Veronica Beard, La Ligne, Ulla Johnson, Isabel Marant, Nili Lotan, Ganni, Tibi, DÔEN, Staud, Sea New York, and Zimmermann.

A distinctive sweater, a beautifully made cardigan, or a statement jacket can bring just as much personality to a wardrobe as a more traditional luxury piece.

For brands such as Vince, Theory, Rag & Bone, Rails, Sandro, Maje, Reformation, Sézane, FRAME, and Mother, we are being more selective. We look for current silhouettes, strong natural-fiber content, leather or suede, distinctive details, and pieces that stand out for their style and quality.

An ordinary sweater does not automatically become a strong consignment candidate because it originally carried a high retail price. The piece itself needs to make sense for today's shopper.

What Should You Pull From Your Closet?

If you are wondering where to start, look first at the pieces you have not worn recently but still love.

Consider these categories as you sort through your wardrobe:

  • Cashmere and elevated natural-fiber sweaters

  • Cardigans and sweater jackets

  • Camel, wool, and cashmere coats

  • Lightweight puffers and down vests

  • Leather, suede, and shearling jackets

  • Current designer knitwear with distinctive details

  • Recognizable designer outerwear in excellent condition

Pay attention to fabric composition, fit, and condition. A well-maintained cashmere sweater or a current suede jacket can be much more appealing than a heavily worn piece from a more expensive label.

Before bringing items in, make sure they are clean, wrinkle-free, and free of stains, odors, holes, and other damage. Clothing should be on hangers, in keeping with our consignment guidelines.

Our team evaluates each item individually, considering its age, condition, fabrication, silhouette, current demand, and expected resale value. Brand recognition matters, but it is only one part of the decision.

Why Consign This Season?

Consignment gives quality clothing another opportunity to be worn and appreciated. Rather than letting pieces sit unused in your closet, you can give them a new chapter while making room for something you will wear now.

For more than 50 years, Clotheshorse Anonymous has helped Dallas shoppers discover designer fashion through resale. Our inventory is shaped by the pieces our consignors bring in and the styles our shoppers are looking for.

That makes seasonal consignment a two-way process. You get an opportunity to pass along pieces you no longer need, while someone else gets the chance to find a designer coat, a beautiful knit, or a jacket they may have been searching for.

And because winter in Dallas does not always call for heavy layers, the most useful pieces are often the ones that offer versatility. A cashmere cardigan, a polished vest, a suede jacket, or a lightweight coat can work across several months and fit naturally into an existing wardrobe.

Your Closet May Have Exactly What We Need

If you own luxury or designer contemporary winter pieces that are current, beautifully maintained, and ready for a new home, we would love for you to consider consigning them with us.

Start with the cashmere you no longer reach for, the coat that deserves to be worn more often, or the jacket that has been waiting for its next outing. You may already have something that fits what our shoppers are looking for this season.

Ready to consign? Visit our Consignment page to review the guidelines and learn how to get started. You can also explore our accepted designer brands before bringing in your pieces.

We are looking forward to seeing the beautiful coats, cashmere, and elevated layers that come through our doors this season.
