WHY IT’S SMART TO GET YOUR BASICS FROM CONSIGNMENT

WHY IT’S SMART TO GET YOUR BASICS FROM CONSIGNMENT

Hey guys! So glad you're here today for my monthly consignment post! It's no secret that I love Clotheshorse Anonymous and think they're the best consignment store in Dallas (see earlier posts to read why). However, the last time I went to shop it solidified my love for the store, and here's why...

I went in a couple of weeks ago one evening and brought Emma Grace with me for a mother/daughter date. I wasn't quite sure how it would go or how long her shopping tolerance would be, but I wanted to give it a try. Emma Grace loves fashion and jewelry, so I had a hunch she might enjoy this date. I always get a bit nervous taking a 4 year old into clothing stores because you never know how the staff might react. The employees of Clotheshorse Anonymous truly blew me away though.

The staff started by allowing Emma Grace and I to hold a mini fashion show with their handbags. Emma Grace would try on a bag and then as instructed by EG, I rated each bag with a "yes" or a "no." Simple enough. It was so fun though because I got to see what EG gravitated toward and she got so much joy out of it! And the staff? Yes, they were amazing. They didn't even flinch when EG picked up designer bags. They were so sweet to her and let her try on anything she wanted. We proceeded to do the same thing with the shoes, the jewelry, and then EG gave us a personal show with their hats. I am a firm believer that customer service is the most important part of a business and the women of Clotheshorse Anonymous nailed it that night. EG and I left smiling and I will forever have such fun memories with my baby girl.

I digressed on that story a bit more than I intended, but y'all, as a mom it just meant so much. It's stories like the one above that keep me coming back to places time after time. And on top of great customer service, their merchandise is on fire right now. No joke, I went in a couple of weeks ago and was floored at how much they had. And as always, everything is in mint condition. For example, I got the Michael Kors peacoat in today's post and it had never been worn. The thread hadn't even been cut out of the pockets yet. I also grabbed this Tory Burch bag there and it looks as good as new!

I know most of us think of big items or wow items when we think about what to get from a consignment store; you know, a high end bag or a fur coat. But, consignment shopping is so much more than that. Consignment shopping is a great way to get some quality basics for your wardrobe. Instead of getting cheap basics that end up falling apart year after year, invest just a tad more (we're still talking money-saving zone here), and get really great, quality staples that will last a lifetime.

And what do I mean when I say "basics" or "staples?" I mean those items that you can wear year after year, season after season and they never go out of style. Those pieces that can be the canvas for your outfit. For example, a great pair of jeans, a neutral tote bag, a pea coat, a really nice black blazer. You catch the drift. And that's exactly what I did with today's look. I think every gal needs one black pea coat and one white or neutral pea coat in her closet. I have a black one, but have been holding out on dropping the big bucks on a white. I saw this Michael Kors one though and ended up getting it for under $150! A great, quality brand and a great price! I also have been wanting a neutral Tory Burch crossbody but haven't wanted to spend $300-$400 on one. Then I laid eyes on this one and I couldn't resist the price tag - also under $150!

Basically, y'all, I am telling you to run, not walk, to Clotheshorse Anonymous and stock up on staples for the season! Their inventory is so great right now and there are so many good prices you just don't want to miss out on!
